How come a weekend without rest doesn't feel like a weekend?
Don't get me wrong. I had a perfectly nice weekend. I just feel like I didn't get enough relaxation time. Isn't that the point of a weekend? The kicker was Friday night. After work (the Barn...not AR) I joined some of the gang at O'Tooles in Centerville. Little did I know that this is where all of Fairfax County under the age of 35 goes on a Friday night. OMG! Vicki warned me the place was a "meet" market, but I didn't even fathom how right she was. Call me naive, but this was so unlike the bars I've typically frequented. I've never seen so many people in one place trying so hard to hook up with each other. I felt like all I needed was a different outfit, a couple of drinks and to give a wink to some random someone, and I would have had a bed to hop into besides my own (NOTE:THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANTED.) I truly believe there was someone there for everyone. Anway, the place was a weird combination of fun and sad. Fun because I had a blast laughing at the folks I came with and laughing at the mating antics of some of the other people there. It was also fun because it was such a lively atmosphere that sany with possibilities. Sad because people seemed to think they had to try so hard (and sometimes so foolishly) to get the attention of the opposite sex. Flirting is one thing but rubbing your ass in 4 different guys crotches (esp. while not on the dance floor) seems a bit over the top. The smell of desperation clung to some of those women, and it bummed me out.
